That’s right! Fabruary is National Pet Dental Month. This is SO important because so many pet owners tend to neglect this part of their animals health. Animals are very prone to getting oral diseases if not properly cared for and on a regular basis.
“According to the AVDS, 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats show signs of oral disease by age three, often indicated by bad breath, a change in eating or chewing habits, pawing at the face and mouth and depression. Besides causing receding gums and tooth loss, the infection may enter the bloodstream, potentially infecting the heart, liver and kidneys.”
If you own a pet please check out this site which has a bunch of useful information about Pet Dental Care. Take care of those little fuzzy love bugs! They depend on YOU!

I have to admit that I do not know much about pet dental problems, and that reading about dental health facts was especially insightful and suggestive. Thank you for opening my views for this topic!

Your welcome! I hope your pet stays super healthy and won’t ever have this problem though.

This is great that you are posting info about this. Having 9 cats, vet bills can be very costly (particularly since many of our cats have special needs) but it is true that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure (or however that goes).
As my vet once told me, cats ‘mask’ their pain for evolutionary reasons (i.e. demonstrating their pain would make them vulnerable to predators, in the wild) and even though they are ‘domesticated’ this is still the case.
Regular check ups ensure our companion animals are not masking any problems. And keeping on top of how they are eating, whether kitties are cleaning themselves regularly – and other behaviours – also will alert us to any problems.
Keep up the great posts!

Monika, you have great knowledge of animals… anytime you feel like contributing… please do!!! Thanks for the added input, it’s incredible and so true to a cat’s personality to have that ability to block pain.

My knowledge of animals comes only from the experience of having fabulous animal companions – and loving animals. Trial and error so to speak! Monika

I like the anti-fur pic by the way. Animals are for cuddling not loving!

Even animals need dental care! Dental care is very important, especially for kids who are suffering from fear going to dentist. Parents should always remind them how important the oral hygiene is…
