This creature you see here is called a frilled shark. Sightings of these sharks are rare because they usually live thousands of feet below in the Ocean. This shark was spotted by a fisher in Japan. After being caught, the shark was moved to Japan’s Awashima Marine Park on Sunday, January 21, 2007. Unfortunatly the shark died not shortly after being captured. Some speculate that it came to the surface because it was sick. We may never know.

There are more! They all live deep down in the Ocean, which is why we never see them. I guess they are starting to go extinct but they haven’t been placed on the list yet. They are the closest to what a shark looked like in prehistoric times with many of the same qualities. I found them to be incredibly interesting but a bit spooky with those cloudy eyes they have (probably for the deep dark waters they live in). Reminded me of that strange fish in Finding Nemo with the light bulb thingy hanging from it’s head.

I can’t even imagine. My mind keeps going to scary stuff though. The deep dark waters have that scary feeling for me, so it’s just natural to think that everything that deep would be creepy (at least for me).

Hmm. A fisherman can’t have taken this picture. It is taken from below the water. I adore sharks and know about most types, but I’ve never even heard of a frilled shark.

They should of just observed the shark.
In a video I saw about this, the marine expert said the shark might of been sick and maybe thats why it went up to the surface.
I think it would of died either way but still, they should of left it alone in the water not move it somewhere else.
